Work-out: COMMIT2FIT

New in: Running in Pink!

Yesterday it was D-day! And YES I ran, I ran the 13k. With my ankle in tape, but I did it. It was so hot, and the 13K seemed endless. So I figured I deserved a little present for my efforts: these new Nike Lunarglides. I actually got them last week, but I wasn't alowed to wear them until after my race. So hello new pink running shoes!

A photo of my man and me yesterday after the finish. Since I was so proud to have completed the 13K, I figured I could bore you guys with this image :)

The Work-out: Almost D-day! & Blog Poll

Not so charming huh? Well this was me last year at Rondje Tilburg. Sunday is the next edition, where I'm gonna take 13K on. For the people who follow me on instagram (@amysfashionscrapbook) may have seen my injury. Yes I kind f*cked up my ankle. So yesterday eve I went to this Fysio-guy, and Saturday morning we are going to test my ankle, see if running is going to be a good idea. I'll keep you posted.
On a different note I have started a new blogging adventure! From now on I also blog for Tilburg.com, it's in Dutch, so if any Dutchies are interested, get you ass over HERE and read my first blog.

On a last note: I'm experiencing a little struggle with my blog. I want to blog about my whole life, so fashion, working-out, travels and good food. Are you keen for that? Of would you rather see me sticking to fashion and starting up a new blog for working-out? Leave your opinion in the poll I have created!

Do you like work-out & lifestyle posts on Amy's Fashion Scrapbook?

The Work-out: The #bikinibattle Challenge

runway

As you might know, I run. And one of my new years resolutions is that I take running more seriously. I am.
Dude, I have been running. I have joined the challenge set by the lovely ladies of Girlslove2run: The #bikinibattle.

Well I'm half-way through April and I have to say, it's not going as well as I though it would go. Usually I'm really dedicated when I have rules to live by, but now not so much. Yeah I do run, I run twice a week. I do at the very least one work-out a week, but I compensate the other work-out by walking on my lunchbreak every day (yeah, at least 30 min. of walking every day). So that's all good. But it's the candy. The candy.
I didn't realize how much crap I eat a day! Yeah, my breakfast and lunch are super healthy, but then when the clock marks 4PM... and a colleague ask you if you want some winegums... Or last week when I bought chocolate because I just needed chocolate. And in the evening: watching Game of Thrones with my man, drinking a cup of tea, and eating a big iced cookie (for the Dutchies: Roze koeken!!). Yes, I defiantly need more focus in the food department.

We already established that the frequency of my work-outs and runs are okay. But there is another challenge! I didn't just join this challenge to wear a bikini this summer. Since I haven't booked a holiday, I'm not too concerned about my bikini-body at the moment. So there is another reason: my personal challenge. Just after the end of this month, on the 5th of May to be exact, I'm competing in the 13k of "rondje Tilburg" (for the non-Dutch: The Round of Tilburg, which is my home town). When I entered this competition I could hardly run 3k. In two weeks time I have to run 13k. Last Sunday I finally hit the 13k mark. I did take a little break after 5k, cause I really needed to use the bathroom and drink a glass of water. But after 15min break I was back on track. I added another 0.5k to compensate though.... not sure if that had any effect, but I like to punish myself in that way (yeah, I'm weird!).
So the plan for this week is to run the full 13k in one go; not sure WHEN I'm going to do that. With my B-day weekend starting on Friday, and lasting all the way up to Sunday evening, I don't know how I'm going to plan that. Since I'm working the whole week, and making arrangements for two party's. Oh well, guessing there are bigger problems in the world. ;)
So follow me on instagram (@amysfashionscrapbook) to see how my challenge is going. I can tell you one thing: I'm sure I'll be having candy (& beer!) during the week this week. 'Cause what's a party without cake? It's just a frikin' meeting!

Ps: I forgot all about the water drinking part! Well save that for next time :)

Diary: All About March

Diary maart 1

That I'm no good with structure is a fact, this month I didn't post my diary posts every two weeks, like I was supposed to. So on now I'll give you a massive diary post on the whole month. Except for Berlin, because you've already seen that here!

Well the first week of March:
- It started great: shopping at the Primark! With my partner in crime Lieke!
- No I didn't turn 2 years old, I did however celebrate my 2 years at Reversz (the company where I work...) this month. Got this card from my co-worker, sweet!
- Yep, on the only day with great weather I ran; I did good!
- I did some baking! Yummy!

Diary maart 2

In the second week of March
- I went to the HEMA musical (Hema is a typical Dutch shop). It was so funny, since I used to work there for 6 years when I was still studying. The time frame of the musical was set in the time when I used to work there, so that was extra cool.
- It snowed even more this month... I'm getting depressed about this cold!
- I traveled to Berlin, more about that here!
- I received these great bracelets from SOYL, more about this on the blog soon!

Diary maart 3

In the third week:
- the man & I celebrated our 9th anniversary together. We went to movies.
- I made quiche for dinner, yummy!
- detail of one of my outfits. See it here!
- preparing blog posts; me in action!

Diary maart 4

This last week of March
- I was kinda under the weather, so when I finally had some energy I went to the city and got these cute rings.
- Easter brunch part 1!
- Easter brunch part 2; yeah my mum still makes me go egg hunting (I'm turning 29 this month.... seriously)
- Running! I went on run, but I wasn't better yet, so it kinda sucked. Well I lapped everybody who stayed on the couch... that is a fact. And I'm doing a challenge in April, from Girlslove2run, but more about that later.

Well this was the great March Diary post. Hope April will give us better weather, so I can run more often, won't get sick. And of course my B-day is coming up; so bring on April!

The Work-Out: Something New!

So I bet everybody has seen the crop-tops that are hitting the stores for SS13. And yes I hear you saying: "But I ain't wearing a crop-top". Yeah sure, but didn't you say the same thing about skinny jeans? And what are you wearing at this very moment? Yeah, point made!  So crop tops. This summer. That means: working out! Seriously: working-out.
You guys already know that I like to run. But running is not enough; one needs a full body work out. (But I still wanted to share the image above with you... cause it's true!)
I have tried two new classes over the last two weeks: Hot Yoga and Insane total body work-out.
Curious? Read on!

Hot Yoga
Two weeks ago I went to Yogacentrum Tilburg, just minutes from my home, to take a Hot Hatha yogaclass. I had done yoga a few times before, so I knew the basics. I was really curious to the "hot" aspect of the class. The thing is, you do regular yoga, but in a heated room. So I was wearing sweat shorts and a very light tanktop. I brought a big towel and a bottle of water, and waited patiently for the lesson to start. I was a little early, so I could adapt to the heat in the room. It actually made me quite sleepy. The room is heated in a clean way, just like sauna's are heated. The temperature was not too bad. I'm not sure how hot is was, but I read some articles about Bikram Yoga (the real Hot Yoga, some would say) and they do yoga at 38 degrees  Celsius. This surley wasn't 38 degrees. In the following 75 minutes we did basic yoga exercises, started with finding our inner balance, followed by some balancing exercises, and concluded with a ground routine.

I didn't find the exercises challenging, I found that a pitty. The thing is because of the heat you are really flexibel, and all of the exercises where quite easy for me (not to brag, but  when everybody was falling over, I was standing there in full balance, thinking why the F people were falling over...). The next day, I did feel my muscles, but I have that a lot lately. Because of the heat you sweat like a pig! It's a little uncomfortable at first, that you can smell everybody. You get so sweaty, that it's dripping all over your body. After the lesson I seriously looked like I fell in a lake, a very hot lake I might add.
I talked to the teacher afterwards, and he gave me  to do a more active Yoga class next, so I'm really curious for that. I liked to do yoga in the heat. The only downside is that I already have a  membership to a fitnessclub, and I'm running now, I don't really want to have a nother membership what I'm paying for every month.. (I'm mean... do you know how many pairs of shoes I could buy from that money in a year?!)
If you are looking for a good way to do yoga, without the chance of getting injured (because of the heat) and want to really sweat it out: this is the work-out for you!

Insane Total Body Work-out
So I'm a member at a fitnessclub. Since a few months they teach Insane. It's like a bootcamp, inspired by insanity and Nike Training Club (like the Iphone app). It's unlike any work-out I have ever done. If I hadn't done Hot Yoga the week before, this would have been the first time I had been sweating so much!
It's a 45 minutes work-out, but you'll feel it for days. And it's not for the untrained among us.

So we got our equipment and started in a high paced jog. It was then that I learned that this jogging would be my "rest" during the whole lesson. Okay, this was something different. I am a real interval person. Good at sprints, not a marathons. I know what my weak point is: breathing. Not that I did anything about it, and I was panting quite soon. My body wasn't tired at all, I just needed to get my breath back. It's the same thing with running: the breathing kills me! So that is my traininggoal for the nearby future.
Good breathing is vital for your muscles; that is why I can still feel them right now, even though the class was 3 days ago. Nothing to take pride in. Of course I did the whole class with full and total dedication.
It was great, we pumped weights, did jumping jacks, heaps of push-ups, burpees, jumps, and heaps of exercises that I can't remember anymore. Above all, the energy in the room was so good! Everybody was into it. The instructor was there to really motivate and push you, but did tell you to do your own work-out. She gave great advice (like: Breathe Amy...) so that was cool. Afterwards I felt to re-energized, so alive. I'm seriously a fan, without a doubt. I'm going back next week, but then I'll pay more attention to my breathing and I'll make sure my body is warm before I attend the class. The body is going to be in shape this summer, without a doubt!

Well I hope I have inspired you to go and take a class, or start running. You'll feel so great afterwards!
Which work-out are you going to try?

New in: Nike Town items

Nike_maart2013
As I promised: my Nike Town purchases! Since I didn't have any natural light, I choose to get the images from Zalando (who still have both items in stock!). But this is what I got! A short; which is double layerd. It has a tight short underneath. So no embarrassing moments when I'm working out.
Second I got this tie-dye kinda tight. It's extra good for the environment since it's made of plastic bottles! But I just like the look and feel of the pants; the eco-part comes second for me. Both items I got on sale; which I was so happy about!
Well now I can Run In Style again (And of course: body pump, spinning, insane etc etc...)

Diary: The first of February

Iphone Amy5

A little overdue, I planned this post half way of february; but time has caught-up with me a little too fast! Well, what have I been up to?
- First up Running! I have been enjoying my Nike Element Shield (seriously, the best tight one can get in the winter)
- This cute Happy Phantom toy by Discodip was the perfect present for a little newborn girl!
- Pancakes! Need I say more?
- Insta my man made of me while we we're enjoying this new unknown folk band in a local pub. Love it! (Since it was a "work-night" I choose to drink coke, that surprised everyone... ;))

Iphone Amy6

- In the second week of february I went for more runs! Really getting the hang of it, and it is going better every time. Meet my new shining run jacket from H&M. Seriously; since it is totally made of reflecting material, I look like a little light bulb running around my home-town, underneath the street lights. Not so sure what I think of that fact by the way.....
- Meatballs! Best food in Amsterdam! Seriously; you should check it out when you have the chance. Tip: The garlic chicken meatball, is really garlic first and chicken second...
- Say hello to my new boyfriend... ;)
- Valentine's day... <3

Well these where the highlights of my weeks; next week I'll post the secoond half of February. But if you can't wait, or want to see more pics, just follow me on instagram: @amysfashionscrapbook

New in: Run in Style

02_februari_2

As I'm telling you again and again, I'm running. And since I believe that everything should be done in style (or every reason there is to shop: you should!) I clicked some nice traininggear home! Yeah I know it's a little much, because I already have like a whole self in my wardrobe dedicated to sportswear which is seriously jam packed! I work-out a few times a week; so I do need a lot of sportswear.

Well done with all the excuses why I spend a sh*tload of money; what are you looking at:
Black Tank : H&M sportswear | Back Training Jacket: H&M sportswear | Black Tank with print: Nike | Black Element Shield Tight (seriously worth the investment!): Nike | Silver Sports Jacket: H&M | Printed Running Shorts: Nike

As you can see I wear only two brands: H&M and Nike! H&M because it's friendly for my wallet, and you do need a lot sportswear (or doing laundry is one of your hobby's) and pair it up with some quality products from Nike. I have a tight from H&M, which has a perfect fit and is very comfortable, but I can't wear it when  the temperatures are low. I'll freeze my ass off! It's all about mixing and matching.
The only thinng left to do by me is waiting for the mailman for the last items from this list to be delivered!

Work-Out: In 2013 I will RUN

In my goals of 2013 I told you that I want to compete in two runs this year (read it here). it all started with this photo that was published on the facebook page of Nike Running (here); My face is in that pic! (Try to find me... ) Since the pic says that sweat will be my best accessory, I decided to do so. I'm going to take running more seriously. To make sure that I will I enrolled myself into my first run of the year: running 13 km in may.

 nike running

So these pics above are actually for me in the first place to make sure that I'll train hard so I can run those 13 km. In the meantime I'm going to post more work-out stuff here; I know that that isn't fashion at all (and this is my fashionscrapbook) but I since it's my personal-blog I hope you'll let me get away with it. And of course I run in style, so technical it IS fashion! More work-out updates, sportswear and inspiration to come!

Diary: Small recap of my week

Since I'm so busy with work, renovating our new house I have very little to no time to update my blog. So I thought it would be nice to give you an insight my oh-so-glamourous (I'm being sarcastic...) week. So here follows a small diary:

Remember I was craving feather extensions? This week I received my feather extensions; Love them!

Yeah, we are still working in the new house. Last Saturday I chopped all the titels out of kitchen by hand. Seriously, that day I learned that I'm just not made to do manual labor. (ps: and don't you think my earplugs and saftey glasses are fashionable? haha)

After working the whole week at the office, in the new house at night and in the weekend. We really deserved some relaxing time! So the BF and I went to spend and hour or two at a lake, late Sunday afternoon. Sipping some beers, eating some snacks and getting a much needed tan.

It can't be all work and no play, so when I saw the invitation of Girlslove2run to join them for a run in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, I was like: Why not? (Yeah I had to travel for like 2,5 hours one-way, and had to work every night of this week to compensate) but I just love to do crazy things. So I grabbed my blogger buddy Lieke and accepted the challenge! We took much more pics so expect a bigger post about our running mission soon on my blog!

This was a small recap of my week!
For now: I wish you all a Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!
