Beauty: My Daily Make-up Products

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

EN// I have been meaning to do a post like this for a while, but I never seem to have all my products new and in mint condition. So since this is as good as it;s gets, I figured: why not shoot this baby right now?
These are the products I use for my everyday make-up. Nope, I'm not a beauty guru, neither am I a beauty blogger, since I seriously hardly know anything about make-up. I'm the kind of person that asks what product to buy, and then sticks with it forever (or until it goes out of stock...).

Foundation : Max Factor Face Finity (Natural 70)
Eyeshadow Mono : Rimmel Glam'eyes (180 Gold Rush)
Eyeshadow Palette : Catrice Absolute Nude (010 All Nude)

Blusher : Max Factor Flawless Perfection (223 Natural Glow)
Eyeshadow Base : Essence I Love Stage
Under Eye Concealer : Hema (01)

Beauty: The Budget Option

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

A few weeks ago I told you all about my new Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette which I received for my birthday. The fact is that I would never spend that kind of money on a beauty product myself, so I was on the hunt for the budget option for Catrice. Since I had read on a blog about this Nude Palette I really needed to get my hands on one of these. Of course I wasn't the only one, so I found myself empty handed every time. Since I got the Urban Decay palette for my birthday I wasn't really looking for the Catrice one anymore, of course that was moment I casually bumped into it. I actually needed to think about it for a moment, would I actually use this budget palette? Well I got it anyway, and I'm very glad I did.
As you can see in photo 3 the colours are identical with the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. The quality is a little less. You need much more product to create the same intense look. I bought this palette for my all day nude/smokey-eye look. I seem to use it everyday when I go to work, just because I'm too lazy to get my Urban Decay Palette. Also I mean to take it with me on holiday, I would want to drop my big palette.

So in my opinion the Catrice Nude Palete is a good investment when you find the Urban Decay palette too expensive. Do note that you'll need much more product to create an intense look. Also the texture is not as smooth as the Urban Decay eyeshadow, but in price you still have a very good product!

Catrice Nude Palette €4,99 (Kruidvat)
Urban Decay Naked 2 €42,30 (Beautybay)

Wishlist: Bikini Shopping

04_april

My birthday is coming up in two weeks, and I have this little tradition that I buy a bikini at the H&M with one of the giftcards I recieve. Yeah, I get H&M giftcards every year. This is the first year though that I can't find anything I really like. I have selected the above two, still deciding which one it is going to be.
I really like the second one, but it has this "granny's underwear" vibe to it, which keeps me in doubt. The first one is just a simple, bikini for swimming and tanning at the local lake.

Can you help me out? #1, #2 or none?

Diary: Hip & Happening Berlin

Berlijn

So, I haven't been blogging much, so what was I doing? I was in Berlin baby! Hip & Happening Berlin.
Every year the man and I take a little trip in the second week in March to cellebrate our anniversay. Well technically our anniversary is tomorrow: 9 years together! Can't imagine life without him; can't even remember my life before Matt. Well enough on the sloppy details. Berlin!
I love this city. I did have to get used to it; it is so cold, icey snow everywhere, and most of the buildings are just concrete boxes. But the fashion, creative vibe, streetstyle, artwork are Hip & Happening.

So what are you looking at?
- The bearth taking Hollocast memorial; it's flabbergasting
- From where I stand; both wearing Adidas kicks
- The Branderbuger Tor; another breath taking site, it's so big!
- Street art at RAW (make sure you check out RAW in , guessing it'll be a vibrante creative mess in summer)

Berlijn1

- Nike Town purchases! Yeah, Nike Town is HUGE! I had a field day! All the limited edition tights, tops and shorts (that are not available, or sold out in 10 minutes in the Netherlands) were on sale! Yeah ON SALE! I tried on half the store. I'll show you what I bought later on this week.
- Chai Latte; yep I drank a lot of them, multiple a day! This is the first city where you can get a Chai Latte in every cafe or snackplace. I'm loving it!
- I have always been a big big fan of Andy Warhol; so on my last day in Berlin I visited the Hamburger Bahnhof museum . I love contemporary art, so this is the museum for me. I saw a great installation of Martin Honert, which is on display till the 7th of April. If you have the chance go and see it, it's worth it. Above all this massive painting of Mao by Warhol is a must see! It is as big as my house! (and my house is quite big..)
- On my way home.... waiting, waiting, waiting, to finally board the plane.

Some tips:
- All the shops (even MacDonalds!) are closed on a Sunday; I'm not kiddin'. Make sure you plan you shopping spree on another day. The shops in the main shopping area are open till 20h every night (except Sunday that is)
- Berlin is colder then the Netherlands; don't forget that! Beanie's, gloves, snowboots, ski jackets, even ski pants, it's all on the streets. Indoors it's very warm, every shop or bar has the heating on HIGH! So layer up.
- Berlin is BIG! Make sure you get a metro-card to get to all the good places! The Ku'dam is nice, but don't spend more then 2h there, there are much better places to spend your time and money (e.g. friedrichshain)
- Berlin is quite cheap for a European Capital.
- My geuss is that Berlin will be even more vibrant in Summer. So I'm planning to go back there when the temperatures are up :)

Well these are my tips on Berlin for now. Expect to see my shoplog on what I got at Nike town very soon.
You can see more pics of my trip on instagram! (@amysfashionscrapbook)

Have a good week!

Sale Shopping Tips

Today I spend hours with the lovely Evelien from the blog fotografille at my favorite coffee place in the city. We talked blogs, our lifes etc etc. She gave me tones of inspiration for my blog. Thanks Evelien.
And I thought why not start right now? As an experiment I'm posting this first post with my tips or my opinion on stuff I see, read, feel or taste in the fashion or blogging world.
So I hope you guys are in for a little reading from time to time.

After my lovely afternoon with Evelien I went to check out the Zara sale; and found it overwhelming. It was so busy, a big mess, long lines. Typical sale shopping. So since I believe that "sale shopping" is one of my competences, I am going to treat you to my top 8 sale shopping tips!

Sale shopping, it sounds so easy. Everything you saw last week, on sale. But you must keep your cool, because penny-wise could turn out to be pound foolish if you don't think it through.

Tip 1 - Make a list
To make sure you only buy what you need ( I know, the word "need" has a nasty ring to it, but you know what I mean), or what you can use. Before you go sale shopping, either online or in the shops. Stand in front of your closet and figure out what you need, or what you are going to hunt.

Tip 2 - Set a budget
I don't really like budgets; but they work quite well. How much money do you want to spend. Use your list, so you can make a price range for what price you want to get what item. In that way you can determine if you want to wait another week for further reductions or not.

Tip 3 - Online shopping vs. Store shopping
This tip has a lot of pro and cons. I like to do both. Online shopping is so comfy, but cane be stressfull. Yes stressfull! When you shop at the H&M sale, you have to make sure to find the items you really like go through the check-out procedure. And then go back for the other items; because items can get sold-out in your basket while you are deciding on which socks you should get.  This is how I got my MMM x H&M sale buys (see here). Just in case you didn't know this: if you shop at H&M online more then once BEFORE H&M has sent you the notification that they are wrapping up your order; all your items will be put in one order; which mean you'll only pay shipping costs once.
The downside on online shopping is that you can't try it on, so it's a good thing if you know how the sizes are of a particular brand. These downsides are the upside of Store shopping. Once you have your hands on an item; no-one can snatch it from you. Also you can feel the fabric and try the sizing.

Tip 4 - Store shopping: wear easy clothes
It sounds so simple, but seriously: wear easy clothes when you are shopping. You'll changing alot. Sample sale shopping is another deal, I'll post a tip-list on that another time.

Tip 5 - Store shopping: wear flat shoes
Wear flats without laces. We all know that moment: arms full of clothes; and there are the perfect shoes. How are you going to try them one easily? Right: wear flats, slippers, ballerina's. Every shoe that slips on and off easily.

Tip 6 - Store shopping: Solo vs. duo
I'm not such a social person when I'm out shopping. I mean: really out shopping. The best shopping I do when I'm out alone. You can give it your full attention. Think about this, before you drag your boyfriend into the craziness of the zara! Downside is that you'll the lonely girl at the coffee place (but who has time for coffee when the sale is on...?)

Tip 7 - Do the Check list
So you are going to buy this one item (or these 7 items) do the following checklist:
=> Is it on your list? a.k.a: do you need it?
=> Would you buy it for full price?
=> Would you wear it next season?
=> Does it fit in your budget?
I'm not saying that you have to answer all these questions with yes. But you should think about it.

Tip 8 - My motto
A few years ago I got this birthday card from a friend which said: "When in doubt: Buy it!" This will sound rather odd, but this does work for me. I have done some of my best buys, by buying in doubt. Well I don't recommend to do this on a regular basis. But if you buy one item per sale (as in sample sale, seasonal sale) you'll end up with some un-expected nice variation in your closet. But whatever you do: always use your head!! I'm not accountable for big expenditures on stuff you'll never wear.

Well these are my tips for maximizing your chances in the sale. Have fun girls!!

New in: Statement Necklace

Okay guys, I kinda lied in my last post. I did do a handfull of purchases over the last week. After having bought nothing (yeah nothing! Not even nailpolish or make-up, which I need! Did do alot of home-deco and furniture shopping by the way...) I couldn't restrain myself any longer. Amongst other things, I bought this statement necklace at H&M. You like?
The rest of the outfit will be online soon!

New in: Mango Sale Shopping

Yes I did it again! I was not going to shop for clothes today, cause we were shopping for the festival we are going to next week. But then I ran into these lovely booties. I already have them in black, and wear them alot! (see here) I thought I could use them in this brown colour as well. Since I only own black heels, these are perfect for summer at the office (yes, those are my summer plans...). And as it was meant to be, I found these boots in this colour. Just one pair left. In my size. On sale. This was fate!
I already knew that they were sold-out online, so these baby's needed to come home with me.
Love these shoes, but on the other hand I do feel a little stupid owning the same shoe twice in a different colour (okay, Converse All Stars don't count! Since I own those in different colours).

Did you get anything good in the sale?
Have a nice weekend!

New in: Budget Shopping

It was kinda hard to take good pictures of some shopping I did. The weather is so grey outside that taking outfit pictures is out of the question to start with. Well back to the new items.
I have been budget shopping, since I have some expensive months ahead (more on that later). I visited a sample sale of Dept (& J.C. Rags for the men among us) last week. I scored some nice items, and also the boy found some nice stuff. Last weekend I did somemore budget shopping at Primark (as you could read here) and an Outlet of chain store The Sting. Scored some pretty cool stuff, but the prices of the items were more amazing! I like!

Well; in this post some of the colourfull stuff I scored:
1- Denims! Jegging, Grey Tie Dye & Neon Peach: Dept Denim Department. Pink Tie Dye: Primark
2 - Tee's & Scarf from Primark

I bought much more stuff (quite a lot though!) but I'll leave some surprises for upcoming outfit posts!
I have another sample sale in my agenda for the upcoming week, and after that we wait for the sale!
(And next year I hope to be buying more expensive stuff though... but in the mean time I'm managing quite alright!).

Personal: Shopping Date!

Right now: I'm getting ready to go shopping on National Glamour Day! (For you guys who are not Dutch, or are living under a Dutch Rock: National Glamour Day means that 1500 shops have a discount of at least 20% today). And to top things off it's also Maffe Marathon at the Bijenkorf. So I'm going to have a lovely day shopping with my mum in Eindhoven. We also have a little spa treatment planned.

Are you going shopping today? What city are you going to raid?
Enjoy your weekend!

Outfit: 'Cause I want your Skull

What I was wearing Saturday!
I had a lovely day shopping with my bf in town.
It was so busy! But what do you expect with the festive season right around the corner.
We had a coffee at my favorite coffee place; mugs & muffins.
I tried the new caramel chocolate crunch; delicious!
I bought some nice knits, gloves and a beanie. It's getting so cold (yet I wasn't wearing a jacket, since we parked the car in the mall, and it was so hot the shops. I don't like wearing a jacket to be honest).
Well more on my purchases in a new post.
Back to my outfit: I was wearing my new biker boots! Which I really love!

I'm wearing:
Grey Blazer: Zara | Skull Tee: Zara | Harem Jeans: H&M | BikerBoots: Zara | Scarf: Stid NL
